The International Business Curriculum (IBC) is a specialised programme developed by the School of Economics and Management at Beijing University of Chemical Technology. The curriculum consists of five components: Marketing, Financial Statement Analysis, Human Resource Management, Contract Negotiation, and Business Research Project. The specific course contents are as follows: The ‘Human Resource Management’ course covers business management and organisation, human resource and labour relations management, employee motivation and leadership, and human resource management planning; The ‘Marketing’ course covers understanding marketing processes and consumer behaviour, product development and pricing, and product distribution and promotion; The ‘Contract Negotiation’ course covers business ethics and responsibility, contract drafting and negotiation, productivity and quality management, and management information systems and communication management; The ‘Financial Statement Analysis’ course covers understanding accounting principles, currency and banking, securities and investment, and financial and risk management. According to the instructor's requirements, students must also submit an annual project report analysing corporate data, with results presented both orally and in writing; ‘Business Research Project’ course content is a capstone task planned by the ESEC (U.S.-China Education Service Organisation) International Business Association. Students should utilise the skills learned in the ESEC IBC plan to complete the project professionally. This independent project is executed by a designated group of four students. In addition to oral and written submissions, the project proposal should include commercial activities such as producing advertising materials and promoting products on product promotion days. Project content includes: introduction, product or service, target market, competitive analysis, SWOT analysis, product strategy, marketing strategy, pricing strategy, distribution strategy, financial statements, and conclusions.

The IBC course selects 32 qualified students from third-year undergraduate students majoring in International Trade each semester based on GPA and CET-6 scores, following an interview process. Each class is taught by experienced foreign instructors, providing students with an opportunity to learn in an environment aligned with international standards. Graduates who pass the final examination are awarded a certificate of completion. Currently, the IBC programme has two lead instructors. Dr. Abdul Knowles, who graduated from Harvard University, has been the lead instructor for the IBC programme since 2001. He has extensive teaching experience and is skilled in inquiry-based teaching, encouraging students to discover and solve problems on their own. Mr. Alan Ho graduated from the University of Manchester in the UK and has years of professional experience as a senior executive in international companies. He integrates his rich practical experience into classroom teaching, helping students understand real-world international business environments while learning theoretical knowledge, thereby fostering a strong interest in the course.

The IBC course adopts an inquiry-based teaching approach, with instructors focusing on interaction with students to fully stimulate their learning enthusiasm and initiative. Students engage in group discussions in class, which not only deepens their understanding of the subject matter but also enhances their critical thinking skills, laying a solid foundation for further specialised learning and effectively boosting their learning enthusiasm and initiative.
